Description
'Turn Blue' rose is a distinctive floribunda variety originating from Japan, celebrated for its unique purplish-blue blooms. Its striking color and distinctive appearance make it a favorite choice for adding a touch of uniqueness and intrigue to any floral arrangement or landscape.
Flowers:
Each flower measures approximately 6 to 8 centimeters in diameter and emits a light to moderate Tea fragrance. They start slightly high-centered, quickly turning to cupped shape. The flowers are very double to double, notably as the season progresses the petalage number decreases in very hot climates and bright yellow anthers are visible in the center. The flowers appear in small clusters of 3 to 12 flower buds together.
The flowering is rather profuse, blooming in flushes with short breaks from summer until the autumn. Although the flowers fade rather quickly in the hot weather, the variety does not bloom well in shade. Under normal growing conditions the flowers last for about 3 to 4 days on the plants.
It has a different personality compared to the well-known blue rose 'Seiryu,' which is known for its high-centered, pointed petals, whereas the 'Turn Blue' has rounded and pointed petals.
PLANT
The rose variety 'Turn Blue' is classified as a Floribunda rose. The growth character is rather weak. Mature and well-established plant has a height of about 100 cm and a width of about 50 cm.
This rose is versatile, thriving both in garden beds and in pots or containers, making it suitable for various landscaping designs. It's important to note that 'Turn Blue' can be challenging to cultivate, requiring careful attention and experience in rose gardening. Gardeners should be aware of its specific needs to ensure successful growth.
