Gallica roses

Gallica roses are one of the oldest and most important groups of Old Garden Roses, descended from Rosa gallica and its historic hybrids. Their origin reaches back to wild roses of southern and central Europe and neighbouring regions, later refined through centuries of garden cultivation, especially in France, where the famous Provins or Apothecary’s Rose became valued for ornamental, medicinal, cosmetic, and culinary uses. This collection brings together classic Gallica rose varieties admired for compact to upright shrub growth, richly coloured blooms, strong old-rose fragrance, and a generous once-a-year flowering display in late spring or early summer. Their flowers often appear in shades of pink, crimson, purple, mauve, deep rose, and striped or mottled blends.
