Description
"Paul's Himalayan Musk" was introduced to the market in 1876 by George Paul Jr. (1841-1921) from his father's nursery Paul & Son in Cheshant, Hertfordshire.
"Paul's Himalayan Musk" is a well-known variety of rose, which is famous for its intensive growth and abundant, fragrant blooms.
Flowers: "Paul's Himalayan Musk" produces clusters of small, very double, blush-pink flowers. The flowers are gathered in large clusters (up to 30-50 blooms) and are located on the separate flowering stems, which gives a plant light, cascading and airy effect. The flowers are very fragrant, have a powerful and sweet musk aroma that attracts bees and various insects.
Growth habit: the branches of this rose variety are long and flexible. The rose is very vigorous, able to grow up to 610 - 915 cm (20-30 feet) tall, making it ideal for covering large structures such as pergolas, gazebos or walls.
Foliage: The plant has attractive, glossy green foliage that creates a lush backdrop for its delicate flowers.
Flowering: blooms once a year in late spring to early summer. Flowering is impressive and long-lasting.Later in the season, to compensate for the lack of flowers, it produces small red rosehip fruits, which will become a beautiful decoration in winter. Everything that is left of the rosehips is cut in the spring along with weak or dead branches.
Care tips
Sunlight: "Paul's Himalayan Musk" grows well in full sun, but can tolerate partial shade. However, more sunlight usually results in better flowering.
Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soils. Adding organic fertilizers, such as compost, can improve soil quality and promote healthy growth.
Watering: Regular watering is necessary, especially during dry periods. However, make sure the soil is well drained to prevent waterlogging.
Pruning: usually pruning is done after the flowering. Remove dead and weak wood and shape the plant to promote healthy growth and maintain structure.
Support: Given its explosive growth, providing strong support is crucial. Train canes to trellises, fences, or other structures to control their growth.
Rose variety is recommended for growing in climate conditions similar to USDA 4 and warmer.
