Description
Hybrid Foetida/Lutea
Old rose, Hybrid Foetida / Hybrid Lutea introduced by Peter Lambert in 1906 in Germany as "Parkfeuer" (literally "Fire in the Park"), and was bred before 1905 by Rudolf Geschwind in Austria-Hungary.
This incredible bright rose has medium (5-6 cm), simple or semi-double flowers that appear in small clusters and have a stunning crimson-red color around many golden-yellow stamens. There is practically no aroma, it is very light. Blooms very profusely, once in early spring or early summer.
The plant is strong, spreading, branched, up to 400 - 600 cm high, slightly arching. The branches are long, without prickles or almost, the prickles have a hooked downward shape. ‘Parkfeuer’ can be trained as a climber or as a large shrub. The leaves are somewhat dim, gray-green, and matt. A very vigorously growing variety. May be prone to rust and other diseases, therefore requires preventive spraying with fungicides. Suitable for individual plantings, landscape compositions and decorating hedges, can be formed as a climbing rose.
Rose ‘Parkfeuer' has very good winter hardiness, and recommended for growing in climate zones similar to USDA 4 and warmer.
