Petals:
The number of petals varies from 25 to 30 on average under normal growing conditions. Petaloids are not observed on flowers of this variety. The shape of the petals is without undulation and slightly reflexing at the margin. The petals arrangement is imbricated.

Parentage

ORIGIN OF THE VARIETY
The rose variety ‘Meifaissel’ was created by artificial pollination wherein two parents were crossed which previously had been studied in the hope that they would contribute the desired characteristics:

The female parent (i.e., the seed parent) was the ‘Meban’ / ‘White Knight’, a Hybrid Tea rose from MEilland, 1955.

The male parent (i.e., the pollen parent) was the product of the cross of the ‘Poulari’ / ‘Karen Blixen’, A Hybrid Tea from Poulsen Roser A/S, 1990 and the ‘Lady Sylvia’, a Hybrid Tea rose from Glendon A. Stevens, 1925.

The parentage of the new variety can be summarized as follows:

‘Meban’ / ‘White Knight’ × [‘Poulari’ / ‘Karen Blixen’ × ‘Lady Sylvia’]

SUMMARY OF THE VARIETY
The seeds resulting from the above mentioned pollination were sown and small plants were obtained which were physically and biologically different from each other. Selective study resulted in the identification of a single plant of the new variety. It was found that the new variety ‘Meifaissel’:

exhibits a very vigorous semi-erect growth habit,

abundantly forms on a nearly continuous basis attractive white high-centered blossoms having moderate fruty fragrance,

forms dense dark green foliage having a semi-glossy aspect that contrasts well with the blossom coloration, and

is particularly well suited for growing as attractive ornamentation in the landscape.

The new variety ‘Meifaissel’ meets the needs of the horticultural industry and can be grown to advantage in parks and garden.

COMPARISON WITH PARENTS
The rose variety ‘Meifaissel’ can be easily distinguished from its ancestors:

For instance, the ‘Meban’ / ‘White Knight’ variety forms white blossoms having approximately 33 petals having no fragrance and light green foliage.

The ‘Poulari’ / ‘Karen Blixen’ variety forms blossoms in clusters having a very slight fragrance and medium green glossy foliage.

The ‘Lady Sylvia’ variety forms light pink blossoms.
