It al started in 2009

My name is Yuri and it all started with the purchase of the first three rose rootings, 'Falstaff,' 'Empress Farah,' and 'Casino.' It was another attempt to distract myself from the stress associated with working in corporate banking. The roses turned out to be highly effective antidepressants and stress-relievers, and as the years passed and stress accumulated, my collection grew and grew.

Five years latter

As my collection grew, so did my knowledge of roses. I discovered that there are different classes, types, and varieties, each requiring specific care. Along the way, I realized that some of the plants I purchased were not what they were claimed to be. That's when I first encountered the challenge of finding reliable information about a particular rose variety. The breeder's website had always been my main source of information, but over time, I learned that breeders can remove varieties from sale, resulting in the disappearance of information about those varieties. And when it comes to old varieties bred before the internet era, the situation becomes even more complicated.

That's how I came across several resources where I could find information, such as Helpmefind.com and rosarians and gardeners groups on social media.

Learning & Learning, 2021

While interacting on social media, I realized that not everyone could read rose descriptions in English, and to my surprise and disappointment, I found it extremely difficult to find information with descriptions of rose varieties in Ukrainian. That's why I started publishing short descriptions of the rose varieties growing in my garden, along with its photos, on social media. And since I happened to be studying web development at the time, the idea of creating a resource in Ukrainian about roses came to me (since I wanted to create something anyway), allowing me to combine the enjoyable with the useful.

Meanwhile, my passion for roses ultimately triumphed over everything else, and the rose collection reached the milestone of 400 varieties.

2023

Due to the war in Ukraine, plans had to be significantly altered, but in May 2023, the AAA resource was finally launched. The aim of this resource is to provide free access to the widest range of information about rose varieties, incorporating various search and data filtering tools. There are still many ideas that have yet to be realized, such as the Articles section that has just begun to take shape. There are plans for a section for searching by photo, where one can find the name of a rose variety by uploading a photo of the rose they have or have seen, but the name is unknown. So, there are many plans ahead and much information that I will gladly share. Growing roses is not just a passion; it is meditation, bringing immense satisfaction and a sense of purpose.
