Description

Outstanding and very large flowers of apricot-orange color, veined with red and featuring romantically ruffled outer petals, will be the center of everyone’s attention. They will not go unnoticed. The rose has a strong and sweet fragrance, forms an attractive plant, and is very healthy. This exquisitely beautiful and uniquely colored rose earned the title of 'The World's Favorite Rose' at the 1994 Rose-World Convention in New Zealand, and it continues to maintain its popularity today.

FLOWER
Blooms in flushes throughout the season, starting from early summer and blooms until the frosts.

Flower bud:
Large flower buds have ovoid form with pointed tip and light apricot-cream colour when the sepals start to divide. When the sepals half open the bud colour changes to darker apricot colour, almost copper. They usually appear singly or more rarely in a small cluster of 2 -3 to 5 flower buds.

The sepals are large, the shape is lanceolate, the base shape is cuneate, and the apex is apiculate; the margin is entire. The upper surface of the sepals has smooth texture and yellow green colour, sometimes tinted with red in the middle of the sepals. The inner surface of the sepals is light green and the surface is pubescent. There are 3 normally appendaged sepals and 2 unappendaged sepals with smooth edges.

Bloom:
The flowers are very large, the average diameter of the open flower is over 14 cm (5 inches). They are double, having classical high-centered flower shape and slightly ruffled. The number of petals is about 26 to 40. The petals are very large, increasing in size as the flower develops. The arrangement of petals is informal and free. The flowers closer to the end open fully showing the center of the flower.

The colour of the flowers is a mix of buff, creamy orange and apricot hue with nuances of dark copper, this splendor is complimented with darker, reddish venation. Over time, all petals transition to a light cream-apricot colour.

Fragrance:
‘Just Joey’ has a very appealing, strong, and sweet fragrance.

PLANT
The variety has very strong, upright, and vigorous growth habit, slightly grows outwardly. The mature plant forms a large bush, about 90 – 180 cm high and 80 – 120 cm in diameter.

The foliage is large, semi-glossy and medium green with reddish shades.

Has good resistance to all most common rose diseases, like black spots, mildew and botrytis. The pest resistance has not been tested. The variety shows good winter hardiness in USDA climate zones 7 and higher, therefore often requires good winter protection in colder climates. At the same time, the resistance to extreme heat is not very high, in the strong sun the petals tend to burn, similar to English roses.
