Flower bud:
The flower buds are large, ovoid. When the sepals start to divide the colour is red-violet with darker purple-violet closer to the tip. The buds appear on the plant singly or in a small cluster of 3 to 5 flower buds, having irregular shape.

The sepals are medium green in colour; the texture of the upper surface is smooth and of the lower surface is pubescent. There are 3 normally appendaged sepals and 2 unappendaged sepals with smooth edges.

When just open the flower has deep crimson-violet color with just a tint of dark purple-violet on the edges of the most outer petals; the reverse side of the petals have silver-blue undertones. As the flower ages the color slightly fades to violet with mauve and lilac undertones.
