Description

This wonderful rose combines the tenderness and delicate appearance of its candy-pink flowers, which fade to lighter shades closer to the edges, with exceptional health and flowering in a wide range of climates. It thrives equally well in wet and cold climates as well as in hot and dry zones. Dense and abundant large dark green glossy foliage creates a perfect background for its flowers.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VARIETY

FLOWERING
‘Jet Set’ has very good repeating flowering, blooms in flushes, with very short breaks, from early summer until frosts.

Flower bud:

The variety has large, long and ovoid flower buds with a very pointed top. When the sepals start to divide the bud colour is medium-green. When half open the bud colour on the upper side is light pink closer to the base and cream pink closer to the tip while on the upper side the colour is deep pink or magenta pink. The flower buds appear on a plant in small clusters, of 3 to 12 buds together, most often 5, having a rounded shape.

The colour of the sepals on the underside surface is medium green and the surface is smooth and shiny; the upper surface has medium green colour and the surface is very pubescent. The sepals are large and broad. They have moderate foliaceous appendages on 3 of the 5 sepals.

The peduncle is long, moderately strong, tends to bend. The surface is smooth, somewhat glandular and has medium green colour, with few light green prickles.

Bloom:
The flowers are large, the diameter of the open flower is about 7 - 10 cm (3 - 3..5"). Upon opening flowers are cupped when just open, the outer petals curl back and slightly wavy. The flowers are very double, the number of petals per flower is about 40 under normal growing conditions.

The colour of the flower when just open on the upper side is light magenta pink, transitioning to darker shades closer to the center of the petals. The reverse side of the petals are much lighter, light pink to white on the very outer petals and becoming slightly darker on the inner petals.

The general tonality of the flowers becomes the same as the flower progresses the flowering, becoming much lighter closer to the end. There is some variegation in the form of few lighter stripes observed on the very outer petals of this variety.

Senesced petals dry and hang on the plant, therefore deadheading is required for this variety.

Fragrance:
The fragrance is light and fruity.

PLANT
The variety is classified as a Floribunda rose with strong and vigorous growth habit. Forms upright, bushy and outwardly plants, reaching a height of about 75 – 120 cm and the width of about 50 – 60 cm at the end of the growing season.

Foliage:
The quantity of foliage on this plant is abundant. The number of leaflets on a normal mid stem leaf is 5. The young foliage has red brown color and glossy appearance, while the mature leaves are dark green and have glossy appearance. The edges are serrated, the type of serration is large and single.

Disease resistance:
The variety has very good resistance to most common rose pathogens, that is why it is highly recommended to landscaping and parks. Pest resistance has not been tested.

The variety is recommended for growing in climate zones similar to USDA 6 and warmer and require winter protection in more colder climates.
