Description

A bush with arched branches covered with yellow flowers along the entire branch. When blooms it resembles a fountain. Has extremely pleasant aroma that attracts insects.

The fruits (hips) tend to fall off. The leaves are small, matte and very attractive. The prickles are also very decorative.

This rose is very hardy, healthy and winters well.


Name origin

Dedicated to Father Hugh Scallan ("Padre Hugo") (8 September 1851, Rathmines/Dublin - 6 May 1928, Xi'anfu, China), a Franciscan missionary who discovered the rose in Shanxi Province, northern China around 1899.
