Description

A multiple award-winning rose with genuinely beautiful flowers, demonstrating an amazing color palette of subtle ivory, buff, and the lightest apricot hues. These blooms are produced on a densely branched medium sized shrube.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VARIETY

FLOWERING
The variety has recurrent, continuous blooming habit. Flowers from early summer until frosts.

Bloom:
‘French Lace’ produces delightful ivory buds with a subtle hint of apricot, unfolding into very double and high-centered flowers with the average diameter of about 8 – 9 cm (3 ½ inches). They appear in a small clusters of 3 to 9 flowers.

The colour is a beautiful mix ivory, buff, and the lightest apricot hues. With age the flowers fade to light ivory, almost white.

Fragrance:
The fragrance is medium, with fruity and spicy notes.

PLANT
The rose variety ‘French Lace’ classified as a Floribunda rose. Hass quite vigorous, upright, bushy growth character. The mature plant grown in a garden when well established has a height of about 70 – 120 cm (2.5’ – 4’) and the width of about 60 - 90 cm (2’ – 3’).

Disease resistance:
The variety is very resistant to black spot, rust, botrytis and mildew under normal growing conditions. Pest resistance was not tested.

The variety is quite winter hardy, recommended for growing in USDA zones 6 and warmer.

ORIGIN OF THE VARIETY
The floribunda rose variety which was originated by William A. Warriner by crossing the variety 'Veria' / 'Dr. A.J. Verhage', a Hybrid Tea rose by Gysbert Verbeek, 1961 with the pollen parent 'Jacbri' / 'Bridal Pink', a floribunda rose by Eugene S. Boerner, 1966.
