Description

The flowers of this variety start from attractive brown, mossy buds of depp purple-pink colour with short, leaved sepals protruding.

The flowers are medium sized, very double. They have flat rosette shape with a small yellow-green eye and petals rolled back towards the center, forming so called button-eye. Upon opening the colour is bright pink with purple shades, the colour of the reverse side of the petals and closer to the base is lighter. The fragrance is moderates, of a Old rose character.

Once flowering Moss rose variety. When blooms the plant is covered with flowers.

The variety is vigorous, forming upright and bushy shrub. The mature and well established plant has height of about 100 cm and width of about 80 cm.

Canes are red and prickly with dark green foliage. The number of leflets on a normal mid stem leaf is 5. The leaves are medium sized, have matt surface and long pointed oval shape.


Name origin

Named after one of the characters of Molière's satyric comedy "Les Femmes savantes", which premiered at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal on 11 March 1672.
