Rose Charming Piano

‘Charming Piano’ regarded one of the most popular ‘Piano’ varieties for its rose-pink flowers. Makes most charming flower bouquets due to its colour, its florist qualities. Same as other Piano varieties, starts off globular before turning cup-shaped with the popular nostalgic flowers twist.

FLOWER
Has recurrent blooming habit, blooms in flushes starting from mid-season and continues until frost.

Flower bud:
The flower bud is about 3 cm long and 4 cm in diameter when the petals start to unfurl, the form is globular. When sepals first divide, bud color is light green white with pink intonations. When half blown, the upper sides of the petals are light green white with pink intonation, which intensifies closer to the petals margins.

Sepals on the upper surface are medium yellow green, the lower surface is medium yellow green with medium red pink pigmentation. Sepals have smooth surface. There are 3 lightly appendaged sepals and 2 unappendaged sepals with smooth edges.

Receptacle are medium green, shape is pear, they are broad and have smooth surface.

Bloom:
The flowers are medium, with average open diameter is about 6 – 8 cm. Borne is small clusters of 3 - 5 to 10 blooms having a rounded shape.

When first open the flowers have globular shape, which retains to the end. Only sometimes opening to a cup-shaped form closer to the end the flowering. The number of petals under normal conditions is about 90, the flowers are very full.

The upper sides of the petals are light rose pink, the reverse sides of the petals are light rose pink with cream and green shades on most outer petals. The major color on the upper sides is rose pink. There is occasional variegations present on the flowers of the red pink colour, same colour as the parent ‘Piano’ variety has.

Flowers last on the plant for quite long - about 16 days and about 10 days as a cut flower.

Fragrance:
Flowers of ‘Charming Piano’ have no fragrance.

PLANT
Forms upright, slightly outwardly bush. The growth strength is medium. Mature plant’s height is about 100 - 120 cm and the width is about 45-80 cm.

The variety blooms profusely in a garden and makes a perfect cut rose. The variety is also used for cultivation as a commercial cut rose.

Foliage:
Number of leaflets on normal mid-stem leaves is 7. They are large, the quantity of the foliage is normal. New foliage has medium olive green colour on the upper side and the medium brown green colour on the lower side. Old foliage has dark green colour on the upper side and the medium brown green colour on the lower side.

Stems:
Stems strength is normal; the average length is about 45 cm with a diameter of 0.3 cm. Color of younger stems is medium green. Color of older, woody stems is dark green-brown.

Prickles:
The quantity of prickles is ordinary, on main canes from base: 20 per 15 cm of wood. They are hooked downward. Color when young is medium brown; colour when mature is medium brown.

Disease resistance:
‘Charming Piano’ has good resistance to rust, mildew and blackspot under normal growing conditions. The resistance to rain is medium.

Unfortunately we do not have information about the origin of the name of this rose.
