Description

‘Brocéliande’ is a stunning, strongly scented hybrid tea rose known and popular for its bold striped blooms, robust growth, and dependable flowering. It brings both aesthetic elegance and fragrant charm, suited for gardeners seeking a low-maintenance yet striking rose.

FLOWERING

This rose variety has a repeated, almost continuous blooming habit, flowers from early summer until frosts with short breaks between the flushes.

The flowers appear from tight and ovoid buds and open to large flowers, the average diameter of the open flower is about 12 cm (5″) when fully open. The flowers are very full, the number of petals on the flowers is typically more than 41, 55 on average. The flowers are borne singly or in small clusters of 3 - 5 blooms together per stem, the flowering stems are strong, thick and long, and easily hold the large flowers of this rose. When the flower first opens the flower shape is classical, high centered form, and when fully open the flower form becomes more cupped and flat on the upper part.

The colour of this rose provides a very appealing and striking mix of cherry red base colour and creamy-yellow stripes, each petal features unique streaking and patterns. The flowers have very good resistance to unfavourable weather conditions, they tolerate rains and heat due to their thick and smooth petals texture. As the flower ages the colours fade to lighter shades.

The fragrance of the rose variety ‘Brocéliande’ is strong and evocative, fruity, reminiscent of red fruits.

PLANT

Rose ‘Brocéliande’ is classified as Hybrid Tea rose. The growth habit is vigorous, upright and well-balanced. The mature and well established plant has a height of approximately 90 - 120 cm (35–47″) and a width of about 50 - 60 cm (20 - 24″).

There is a normal quantity of the foliage on the plants of this rose variety. The number of leaflets on normal mid-stem leaves is usually 7 with instances of 5, including the terminal leaflet. The foliage is large, glossy, dark green, leathery and dense. The edges are serrated, the type of serration is single and large. The foliage is very resistant to common rose diseases and thrives affordably with minimal treatment.

This rose is excellent as a single specimen or in mixed beds and borders; said to perform well in 'no spray' gardens. Forms a deciduous shrub with a bushy silhouette and is ideal mid-size for beds or borders. Its long and strong flowering stems make it perfect for cutting and for flower arrangements, it will look lovely in a vase for a long time.

For this rose variety is recommended standard Hybrid Tea rose pruning: shape early in season, remove spent canes and focus on strong stems for new blooms.

The variety ‘Brocéliande’ has good resistance to black spot, mildew, botrytis and rust under normal growing conditions. Pest resistance is not tested.

This rose variety is recommended for growing in climate conditions similar to USDA 6 and warmer; requires winter protection in more colder climates.
