Description

The flowers are large-sized and start off as high-centered in a soft apricot-yellow shade, which can also change to rose-pink. As the flowers fully open, they reveal their old-shaped quartered rosette form, which reminds us of old rose gardens. The flowers are extremely resistant to rain and heat.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VARIETY

Bloom:
The flowers are large, the diameter of the open flower is about 10 to 12 cm (4 - 5"). Upon opening flowers are high-centered, and as the flower fully open the flower becomes quartered rosette shaped, the outer petals curl back. The flowers are very double, the number of petals per flower is about 40 - 45 under normal growing conditions.

The colour of the flower when just opened is apricot-yellow, sometimes with rose-pink or fully rose-pink. As the flower ages the colours fade to light apricot or cream with pinkish undertones.

The petals drop off cleanly before drying.

PLANT
Very vigorous, bushy, and upright climbing rose. The mature and well-established plant has a heigh of about 200 – 300 cm and the width of about 80 – 100 cm by the end of the season.

Forms attractive, wonderfully glossy, dark-green foliage. ‘Barock’ is also well suited for growing as a single shrub rose.

Disease resistance:
The variety has very good resistance to all main rose pathogens. In colder and wet climates can be slightly susceptible to black spot. Pest resistance has not been tested.

The variety is recommended for growing in climate zones like USDA 6 and warmer, and requires winter protection in more colder climates.

Name origin

In the UK it is sold under the name ‘Reach For The Stars’ - The Charity Rose supporting Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
