FLOWER
The flowering habit is continuous, as the rose variety ‘Aubade’ is suitable for cut flower production under greenhouse conditions. In greenhouse conditions, it is able to bloom all year round. In the garden it blooms from summer until frosts.
Flower bud:
The flower buds are large, upon opening the length from base of receptacle to end of bud is about 5 cm. The bud has a long and pointed form. As sepals unfold, the bud colour is crimson with cream-green closer to the base. When the bud opens at ¼ the underside of the petals is cream green transitioning to crimson pink to the edges, and the upper side is cream green with yellow undertones transitioning to crimson on the edges of the petals. The flower buds are borne singly or in small clusters with 2 to 3 buds per flowering stem.
The sepals have a moderately pubescent surface, the stipitate glands are present on the outer side of the sepal and along the margins and foliaceous appendages. The colour of the sepals is medium green with intense brown purple intonations on the upper side. There are present lightly foliaceous appendages on 3 of the 5 sepals.
Bloom:
The flowers of ‘Aubade’ are large and tall, the average flower diameter is 10 when fully open. Upon opening the flowers have a high-centered shape, the flower form persists until the end. The flowers are full, the number of petals under normal conditions is 40 on average.
Just right upon the flower opening the colour of the outermost petals on the upper surface is cream yellow gradually transitioning to crimson pink from the middle zone of the petals and on the reverse sides are cream green with yellow intonations transitioning to crimson pink. The innermost petals on the upper surface have cream yellow colour with crimson pink on the edges of the petals and the reverse side have the same colour but have a smaller portion of crimson pink, only on the edges.

The colour of the innermost petals on the marginal zone on the upper surface changes to light yellow cream gradually transitioning to cream and with occasional pink lines and spots on the edges, while the upper surface becomes light cream with pink (lines and spots on the edges.
The general tonality of the open flower is cream yellow with crimson pink on the edges. At the end of the fifth day no change in the general tonality of the flowers are observed. Afterwards, the general tonality becomes lighter, light cream with a slight portion of pink on the edges.
