Description

Classically shaped deep pink flowers with pink-white reverse open very slowly. Despite its greenhouse purpose feels perfectly great in a garden, and flowers of this variety have good tolerance to heat and rain. The flowers last for a very long time both on a plant and as a cut flower.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VARIETY

FLOWERING
The variety has very good, repeated flowering, blooms abundantly and nearly continuously. In a greenhouse conditions the variety can produce flowers year-round. In a greenhouse is able to produce 170 – 190 flowers per 1 m2 per year when planted in artificial light substrate.

Flower bud:
The flower buds are large, have ovate shape in longitudinal section. The colour of the bud as the sepals start to divide is dark purple pink closer to the tip larger portion of the cream-white closer to the base. The colour after the bud is half open is dark purple pink on the upper side of the petals and grayish-white with pink undertones on the reverse side, fading to darker purple pink closer to the very edges of the petals.

Bloom:
The flowers of ‘Attracta’ are large, the diameter of the open flower is about 10 to 11 cm, with the height of the flower when half-open of about 6 – 6.5 cm. The flowers have a high-centered shape, the edges of the outer petals curl back; the flower shape persists until the end, flowers never fully open. The number of petals under normal growing conditions is about 60, the flowers are full.

When just opened the flower have deep pink colour on the upper surface, the edges of the outer petals sometimes transition to very dark purple red; the underside of the petals have white colour with strong pink shades and pigmentation, sometimes tinted with silver and mauve. As the flower ages the colour becomes lighter dark pink, the colour of the underside of the petals becomes more light pink closer to the base and deep pink closer to the edges.

In general, the flowers have good resistance to unfavorable weather conditions, and have good tolerance to heat and rain. They last on a plant very long, about 14 to 17 days under normal growing conditions and long as a cut flower – about 12 to 14 days.

Fragrance:
The flowers have none to light scent.

PLANT
This rose variety is classified as a Hybrid tea rose. The variety has vigorous and strong growth habit. Forms upright, compact and quite narrow plants with very strong branches. The mature and well-established plant can reach a height of about 80 – 120 cm and a width of about 40 – 50 cm.

It was primarily designed for growing in a greenhouse environment but proved itself suitable for growing in gardens.

Foliage:
The variety has very attractive large semi-glossy foliage. The number of leaflets per normal mid stem leaf is 5. The leaves are large, have dark green colour, the edges are serrated, the type of serration is medium and double.

Stems:
The average flowering stems have a length of about 70 – 100 cm, have dark green colour with purple red intonation and smooth bark.

Prickles:
There are very few large prickles on the main canes of this variety, on the laterals from the main canes and on the flowering stems the prickles observed rarely. The prickles are large and have a pyramidal shape.

Disease resistance:
The variety has fairly good resistance to black spot, rust and botrytis. The resistance to powdery mildew is moderate. Pest resistance has not been tested.

The rose ‘Attracta’ is recommended for growing in greenhouse for cut flower production. In garden conditions recommended for growing in climate zone similar to USDA 6 and warmer.
