Description

The modern hybrid of Hulthemia persica, the Shrub / Floribunda rose "Angel Eyes" (also known as ‘Esther Queen of Persia’), is a stunning, continuously blooming rose with semi-double, bicolored flowers in charming lilac and pink tones, highlighted by a bright purple eye in the center. It is a perfect decoration that will add aesthetic appeal to any garden! Thanks to its vibrant colors and resilience, this wonderful rose variety is a valuable asset for both experienced rose enthusiasts and beginners.

The flowers are delicate, light pink, fading to white-pink, with a violet-ruby center, and have red speckles/inclusions on the petals; the inner petals are curled and wavy. The center has orange stamens. The fuchsia/magenta-colored eye nicely sets off the numerous golden stamens. The flower shape is open and flat, flat-cupped, semi-double (17-25 petals), medium-sized with a diameter up to 8.5 cm, gathered in small clusters. It has a light fragrance. The flowering is abundant, lush, and long-lasting throughout the season, but for continuous blooming, it is desirable to remove spent flower clusters. The shrub is beautiful, sprawling, bushy, upright, and well-branched, reaching a height of 70-90 cm up to 100 cm, and a width of up to 70 - 90 cm in open ground. The leaves are dark green, medium, glossy, shiny, leathery, and disease-resistant.

Fragrance: Although the 'Angel Eyes' rose has a weak fragrance, this aspect can be appealing to those who prefer less fragrant flowers.

Winter Hardiness: It is winter-hardy (Zone 6) and tolerant of poorer soils, making it suitable for various garden conditions.

Disease Resistance: High disease resistance.

Growth: A compact and bushy plant with thorny stems, making it ideal for growing in pots or as part of a stylish hedge.

Soil: It is not demanding regarding the soil, but requires good drainage without water stagnation for optimal growth and health.

Sunlight: For lush flowering and health, plant it in a location that receives sufficient sunlight.

Watering: During the summer months, container roses require daily watering to maintain their health and maximize blooming.

For harmonious garden arrangement, consider pairing it with companion plants:  Lavender - its fragrant aroma complements the rose while attracting pollinators;  Sage (Salvia) - which adds a bright color and vertical structure, enhancing the overall aesthetic;  Geraniums - their foliage creates a beautiful contrast, and the flowers harmonize well with the shrub rose.

The 'Angel Eyes' rose is not just a visual delight; it represents an unpretentious yet visually stunning choice for small gardens, containers, or borders, making it a wonderful gift for rose lovers.
