Description

'Alissar Princess of Phoenicia' showcases captivating creamy peach-colored flowers, each with a deep ruby-red center that evolves into a pink hue as the flower ages. This rose does flower continuously without stop from the early weeks of summer, and up until the first frosts. The new foliage has very attractive and striking shades of red and matures to a rich, dark green, creating a remarkable color contrast with her vibrant flowers.
FLOWER
Blooms continuously throughout the season, starting from late spring or early summer, and until the frosts. Note that for such continuous flowering the regular and timely deadheading is a must.
Flower bud:
The flower bud is medium sized, about 1.8 cm long and 1 cm in diameter when the petals start to unfurl. The form of the bud is ovate and pointed. When sepals first divide, the bud color is dark ruby-red. When half open, the upper sides of the petals are ruby-red, and the lower sides of the petals are orange-yellow.
Sepals regularly arranged, they are light green on the upper and on the lowers surface. They have length of about 1.8 cm and width of about 1 cm, shape is pointed. Margin of the sepals are mossy on the upper surface and smooth on the lower surface. There are three lightly appendaged sepals. There are 2 unappendaged sepals with smooth edges.
Receptacles have medium green colour, they are pitcher shaped, small, with a length of about 1 cm and width of about 1 cm, smooth on the surface.
Peduncle is me medium, averaging about 4 cm in length with smooth surface and medium brown purple colour. The strength is erect.
Bloom:
The flowers are medium sized, about 8 cm in diameter in average, borne in a small clusters, of 3 to 5 together, having irregular shape.
When the flowers first open, the bloom form is shallow cupped, and flattens as the flower fully open.
The average number of petals on the flower is 11.
They are creamy white on the upper surface upon opening and later they change colour as the flower ages, until they are dark pink. The changing color creates multi-colored bouquets. All flowers contain many colors such as pink, light yellow, carmine red, magenta and cream white. In the center around the stamens is a strong dark carmine red spot. This spot is typical of the persica hybrids.
Petals:
The petals of this variety are heart shaped, have smooth texture and surface, their average width is about 35 mm and the length is about 25 mm. Their margin is medium reflexing with medium undulation.
Petaloids are not observed on the flowers.
Petals dry out and fall cleanly from the plant.
Flowers are long lasting on the plant, about 5-7 days under normal growing conditions. As a cut flower - not tested.

Reproductive parts:
The average number of stamens if about 60, with length of about 1 cm.
Anthers have dark purple-red colour, have length of about 3mm and arranged regularly around the styles.
Filaments are medium ruby-red colour and about 10 mm long.
Pollen has dark yellow orange colour.
The number of pistils is 28 on average, they have 6 mm length.
Styles have length of about 5mm and medium yellow orange colour.
Stigmas are about 1 mm long and have yellow orange colour.
Hips – not observed.
PLANT
'Alissar Princess of Phenicia' forms a good bushy shrub with upright growth, slightly spreading.
Mature, established plant has height of about 120 – 140 cm and the width of about 60 – 100 cm.

Foliage:
The foliage is dense and healthy, the average number of leaves is about 5, including terminal leaflet. The number of leaves per flowering stem is 4 per 10 cm in average.
The foliage is medium sized, about 13 cm long and 10.5 cm wide.
New foliage has dark red colour on the upper and the lower sides. Old foliage is dark green on the upper side and slightly lighter dark gray green on the lower side.
The leaves are very healthy and have glossy appearance.
Leaflets:
The average size of the normal leaflets is about 5 cm long and 3.5 cm wide. They are oval shaped, the base shape is rounded and the apex shape is acuminate.
The texture of the leaflets is leathery, edge is serrated, the type of serration is double and large.
Wood:
The new wood has red green colour, the bark is smooth. Old wood is dark brown green with smooth bark.
Prickles:
There are many prickles on the main canes from base, their number per stem length is 14 per 10 cm. There are also many prickles on the laterals from main canes, their number per stem length is about 14 per 10 cm.
The prickles have deep concave form, the average length is about 7 mm. Their colour when they are young is purple-red and when mature is brown-red.
Disease resistance:
The variety showed good resistance to all main rose diseases, like the black spots, botrytis, rust and mildew under normal growing conditions.
The variety is extremely well resistant to heat and rain.

Pollen parent, or a Male parent is unnamed seedling which is result of cross pollination the lineage of which can be summarized by following: ‘Dublin Bay’ by Samuel Darragh, 1969 × {[ Rosa persica × Unknown rose] × ‘Bright Smile’ by Patrick Dickson, 1980}.
