Description
The large, semi-double flat flowers of 'Alain Blanchard' are captivating, displaying a deep purple-crimson hue with a prominent cluster of golden stamens at the center, which attract bees. The petals are speckled and spotted with lighter crimson red, and as they age, the flowers transition to a purple-gray color. The blooms are arranged in small clusters, of about 3 to 7 together.
The plant features arching branches, and if trimmed into a bulb shape after flowering, it becomes a sturdy and highly floriferous shrub. The olive green foliage is healthy and robust. Instead of thorns, this rose has rather bristles. Attractive hips appear in the fall.
